My name is Aria C. Moody. This is the start of my 6th year as a science teacher and my 1st year at River Rouge High School!
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology from Wayne State University, I worked in the health care field in corporate offices and as a mentor to at risk teens. In 2011, I became one of the first 92 people to ever receive the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship in the state of Michigan (this fellowship is designed to help career changers in the S.T.E.M. areas {science, technology, engineering and mathematics} become highly qualified, certified, secondary teachers). In 2014, I succesfully completed my graduate work in science education and earned my Master of Arts degree (also from Wayne State University). So remember, the struggle IS real, but it can ALWAYS be overcome! I am looking forward to meeting, and getting to know each of my students, as well as, their parents, guardians and families. It is my hope that this school year, and every year to come will be challenging and interesting, so that each student understands and enjoys the learning process. Moreover, I pray the lessons and activities will create community, enhance the skills and interests of students, and keep the families as my partners; making each academic year, an educational experience for the students that the parents/guardians can also feel a part of. If at any time, you would like to meet me to discuss our student's performance, ways I can motivate and encourage them, or any problems that he/she is facing in class or insights that will effect their performance in class, please feel free to meet me during my plan period Tuesday and Thursday (8:00 - 9:00 am). My only request is that you tell me at least one day in advance so I can ensure the meeting has no overlap, and you can have my undivided attention. Apart from this, you can always e-mail me at aria.moody@riverrougeschools.org or call me at 313. |
